An Immersive Threshold
This independent extension treats Dunhuang not as a decorative texture bank but as a threshold into layered time. Light, scale and controlled fragments guide the visitor without imitating the original artworks. The design's role is to slow looking down and then get out of the way.
A Conservation Reading Room
This independent exhibition extension replaces spectacle with attentive looking. Illuminated tables bring mural fragments to a humane reading distance, while translucent layers explain pigment, damage and reconstruction without pretending to restore the original. Warm paths guide the room, but darkness protects concentration. Heritage is presented as evidence to study, not scenery to consume.
